ISA is looking for thoughtful, dedicated students from all academic disciplines who are interested in becoming a member of ISA. This can be done by contacting any of the team members of ISA

Indian students who wish to join ISA should above all provide exemplary models of what it means to be an Indian, to feel a sense of responsibility to each other, to reflect Indian culture at its best, and to be a positive example to others.

In order to stay informed and current about details concerning the organization, members of ISA need to subscribe to the Indian student listserv and should also check the ISA website frequently.

ISA member dues are $10 per semester. Such funds are used in support of activities conducted on behalf of Indian students. All ISA board members must pay their dues to hold their position on the board.

ACTIVITIES

For the last five years the Indian Student Association has held a Welcome Party each semester for each new group of students to help them adjust to a new environment.

Holi Fest has been held in spring for several years and continues to be a bigger and better event each year.

Other activities have included participation in the annual Multicultural Festival, sponsoring Cricket Tournaments, Indo-Chinese Ping Pong Tournament, Antakshari, and graduation parties.

In October, 2005, the first Diwali Festival was held with approximately 200 persons in attendance.

Code of Conduct:

  • Accountability is what we expect from members.
  • Keep the benefits and goodwill of the entire organization as a top priority over personal, self-serving interests.
  • Attending meetings regularly is important.
  • Reading emails from the ISA is critical to keeping informed.
  • Taking initiative to improve ISA is a must to keep ISA alive.
  • Commitment to ISA is essential to those who wish to lead ISA.


Rewards of joining ISA:

The rewards that one gets of being a member are a certificate of appreciation for below average and average contributors, Certificate of Excellence for incredible contribution and also their name stays in our website for ever in the list of incredible contributors.

Being a member one can develop the skills of leadership, event management and also social cognition, these are the skills that will help the student to climb up the career ladder.

Role and Responsibilities of Each Member:

President: Presides over committee and meetings, coordinates group activities and communicates with officers and sponsors on all matters.

Vice-President: Aides to the president, assumes presidential activities in the absence of the president or when called upon to do so.

Treasurer: Shall collect membership fees, pay bills, and handle all other monetary transactions, such as social and fund-raising activities, and maintain an annual budget. At meetings he/she will present a brief financial report when necessary.

Transport Coordinator: Will provide transportation to all the new students from DFW/DAL airport to
TAMUC campus. Please submit a request in the airport pick up link to avail this.

Webmaster: Update website and maintain website.

Liaison Officer : Communicator among the india students association.
